Induction
We were happy to welcome Stephanie Hesler back into the club. As her sponsor, John Oughterson pointed out that Stephanie is a former member of the Geneva Rotary Club and transferred to the Canandaigua Rotary Club because of work. She is now back in Geneva as the Coordinator for the Gearan Center for the Performing Arts at HWS and glad to be back.
Stephanie has been here many times as a visiting Rotarian, Speaker, and mom with the Interact Club bake sale. She lives here in Geneva with her husband, Stephen and two sons, Sean and Nate who are both very active in the Geneva Interact Club.
Welcome Home Stephanie!
Program
Joyce Keeney introduced Alison Hunt of Congressman Tom Reed’s Office. She has been with Congressman Reed for six years and has served in the capacity of constituent caseworker to the District Director.
Alison introduced Andrew Wilber who works out of Reed’s Geneva Office and is working with Congressman Reed as part of Trump’s transition team. Highlights of her talk included:
- The primary goal of the District Office is providing constituent services
- Eleven counties are covered
- Property tax reduction (Not “one size fits all”)
- Abbreviated income tax return form
- Health care
A lively discussion ensued about Trump’s presidency and his failure to release his tax returns. It was suggested that it be brought before the Ethics Review Board. Due to time constraints the subject of health care was not covered in length, other than the fact that “ObamaCare” will not be repealed before a replacement is set.
