Joell Murney-Karsten, Community Outreach Coordinator for del Lago Resort and Casino gave an update on the soon to be opened Casino and Resort.
- The Casino is scheduled to open on February 1, 2017
- Phase I will open first with the casino, a food court, restaurants and a performing arts center.
- Phase II will open in the summer and will include a 205 room hotel, restaurant, spa and banquet facility.
- A child care facility will be included at the old Bonadent building.
- Since this is not a Native American owned facility, they will pay taxes, and it will be a no- smoking venue.
- It is projected that they will pay $77 million in taxes to New York State in the first year of operation.
- The resort is being promoted as a “Destination Resort” promoting local New York State products including beer, wine and cheese.
- MacKenzie Childs will be operating a retail facility on the property as well as furnishing all of the bathrooms with the unique MacKenzie Childs décor. (Mary Lawthers and others are excited about that!)
- The Resort is also partnering with CMAC and the New York Culinary Center.
In summary, this new endeavor will be a welcome addition to the Finger Lakes area!
