Debbie Hoffman of the Foster Grandparent Program was our speaker today. The Foster Grandparent program provides:
• Warm friendship, interest, understanding and role modeling
• Tutoring, mentoring, individual attention and personal care
• Foster grandparents talk and listen, play, explore, sing, walk, read and cuddle with an infant.
Who can become a foster grandparent?
• Men and women who are 55+
• Living on a limited income
• Enjoy being with children
• Can serve 20-40 hours per week
Foster grandparents serve in facilities such as schools, Head Start Centers, and day care centers.
Foster grandparents receive a tax free stipend, free daily meal, transportation allowance, paid leave and sick time, free annual physical, accident insurance coverage during volunteer time, orientation and monthly training.
